Shift Lead

Department: Maryland
Location: Hunt Valley, MD

Job Summary

The Shift Lead is responsible for the smooth operation of the facility. This includes safety as well as production. The Shift Lead keeps the inventory organized and the employees set up with material to sort. The individual will unload, and load trailers as directed. This individual will enforce all company/industry rules, policies and standards to a crew of production workers and will plan ahead so his area and teams are working in a safe manner.

Daily Responsibilities :

  • Clock In/Out: Use the online system to accurately track your work hours.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for safety.
  • Daily Production Planning & Team Briefing: Meet with the Production Manager to review daily goals and lead the 8:00 AM roll call meeting to communicate tasks and expectations.
  • Forklift & Warehouse Coordination: Direct forklift drivers, keep the warehouse organized and clean, and ensure smooth material movement.
  • Performance & Staffing Management: Monitor employee productivity, ensure quotas are met, and adjust staffing levels as needed.
  • Trailer & Driver Coordination: Communicate with the Production Manager on trailer status and provide required paperwork to drivers for loading/unloading.
  • Safety & Policy Enforcement: Ensure adherence to safety protocols, enforce PPE use, and uphold company policies and professional standards.
  • End-of-Shift Setup & Reporting: Ensure finished products are stored, materials are prepped for the next shift, and all paperwork is completed.

(Additional Duties: Other duties as they are assigned by the supervisor)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Experience: At least 5 years of warehouse or manufacturing experience, 2+ years lead experience in manufacturing or warehouse company
